Do I need to be cleared to volunteer?
It depends on when and where you're helping. Here's the short version.
PTA events outside school hours
Evenings, weekends, or helping from home — no district clearance needed. Just jump right in!
No paperwork required
On campus during school hours
Classroom help, field trips, and class parties require SJUSD volunteer approval (fingerprinting, background check, TB clearance, and two required video trainings). Approval can take several weeks — start early so you don't miss out.
