Can I volunteer before getting district clearance?

It depends on when and where you're helping.

PTA events, evenings, weekends, or helping from home.

Classroom help, field trips, and class parties require SJUSD approval. Allow several weeks for clearance.

Grab a short 1–2 hour shift at a single event, help behind the scenes from home, or take on an ongoing role like Yearbook or Recess Duty. Every bit counts — you don't have to lead to sign up.

Vision & Hearing Screening Helper

Monday, November 9 · pick your shift on the sign-up

School nurses run the screening. Volunteers supervise students while they wait and walk them between their classroom and the screening area. No medical experience needed.
